VIDEO ART DIRECTOR

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Art direct and oversee all aspects of video shoots, from beginning to end (pre- to post- production), including concept development, detailed story boarding, art direction, prop and set styling, execution, visual consistency, editing, and delivering a final product
  • Assist the Photo Art Director in developing concepts and designs for realistic photo sets that follow current trends
  • Work closely with the video editing team to help manage the post-production process, providing detailed video editing feedback, and final approval
  • Help lead the visual tone in content: be an advocate for the brand and quality across all content channels for video (social, product page, instructional, special projects, etc.)
  • Collaborate with Video Production Manager, Video Production Specialist, Video Editor and Content Strategists to transform ideas into exceptional content experiences that users will love
  • Develop an artistic approach and style on all video projects
  • Present art direction and storyboards to Photo Art Director and Studio Management for approval
  • Identify and cast models for live video shoots
  • Develop and maintain video standards across all media channels for each brand
  • Create and pull resource material for concepts and mood boards to clearly communicate ideas
  • Demonstrate strong time management skills and correct use of resource
  • Continually improve creative, videography and production workflow
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned by manager and upper management.
  • Follow legal policies as directed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • ​ 8+ years experience art directing products for commercial video productions, with significant experience styling home products or environments
  • Retail experience mandatory; agency experience on retail account considered
  • Experience with one or more marketing disciplines in a high-volume environment required (catalog, advertising, direct mail, packaging, sales promotions, etc.)​
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of color theory, video/film framing and composition by submitting a portfolio of work
  • Ability to display flexibility on with scheduling on location shoots and during times of peak shooting
  • Knowledge of Premiere and After Effects
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to establish priorities, set and maintain deadlines
  • Aptitude for finding creative solutions to complex problems
  • Ability to prioritize numerous and overlapping projects, while working under pressure, to meet all deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Must inspire creativity, innovative thinking, strong visual concepts and solutions through thoughtful management and clear direction
  • Maintain understanding of current and most up-to-date creative/video trends as it relates to each brand’s objective
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to inspire creative talent; ability to interact with key senior executives;
  • Foster and maintain good relationships with internal and external partners
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, ability to exhibit diplomacy and decisiveness
  • Excellent listening, written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent internal and external communication, documentation and presentation skills
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Mac proficient with expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, web and database functionality required
  • Efficient and effective story boarding required
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned by manager and upper management
  • Follow legal policies as directed

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to work within and meet tight deadlines under pressure

  • Ability to display flexibility with scheduling and travel during location shoots and times of peak shooting

  • Ability to handle high pressure situations while maintaining professionalism

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally as needed
  • This position requires the incumbent to sit, stand and perform general office functions. The incumbent may also be required to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Bending, stooping and reaching are also frequently required.​
